Stumbleupon best tags – huge traffic vs CommisionJunction
Making money online is hard but sometimes it can be so easy if you know what to do at the right time with a little luck of course. Four days ago I checked one of my blogs (it’s more an article directory than a blog) that I don’t really use because I don’t have time for it and I went to see some traffic statistics. I wasn’t surprised at all 
only 20 unique visitors/day, so I went to see what articles were waiting to be accepted. There were a few, some of them really good and I thought I should see how much traffic I get with stumbleupon for certain tags/keywords. For the first two or three articles which weren’t so good, I used five tags – weight loss, lose weight, diet, diets and loss weight. I stumbled and I was really surprised to see that 200 people visited my website from those tags.
So I went to search for a good article based on weight loss and I found something like this “The Diet Secrets Of 7 Women Celebrities”. From one stumble with the tags that I told you I received 1100 visitors in only 20 minutes. Now this is the power of social bookmarking and well written articles based on top 10, top 7 or just lists of interesting things.
Now the part with making money. My luck was that I had some banners from Commision Junction rotating in the header. I made 114$ with affiliates, for only five minutes of work. It’s not a huge amount of money, but money is money 
and everybody wants some.
As a tip you should research well all social bookmarking website, especially the tags from stumbleupon because not all are used at their full potential. The example that I gave you with weight loss is good because this tag isn’t used so much on stumble and the number of users that are searching for this is huge > it is a fact that in USA people suffer of obesity because 80% of the traffic I received was of course from the United States and 20% from Canada.

PS: Google Adsense works well in that niche estimated 1$/click minimum.

Yes you can get this kind of traffic if you have new stuff. I suggest you do some huge reviews for some important software and stumble it especially with the tag software and then with tags like the programs name… From what I know digg works well with software related articles (reviews) the only thing is you should create a group of 4, 5 diggers. very interesting article you have here. i was just wondering how you get content on your weighloss site. you mentitoned they were queued up? are they from other article sites, rss feeds?
well I have a few persons who submit articles to that website directly and another source for content is my articles directory which gets articles from other websites

well there is now way to find out which tags perform better. You should try some and see. You can see some keywords on http://www.google.com/trends

I ran across your article while looking for a new wordpress template. I found it very interesting. I am new to the whole “blogging for money” thing and am not familiar with Stumbleupon. Would you mind helping a newbie and explaining to me how you stumble something? Did you load the article to your site and then use the stumbleupon toolbar while the page with that article was in your browser?

That $1 per click estimate is way off
But I have seen some really good traffic from SU. I have found that if you stumble your own stuff too often your traffic dies very quickly.
