Making money online is hard but sometimes it can be so easy if you know what to do at the right time with a little luck of course. Four days ago I checked one of my blogs (it’s more an article directory than a blog) that I don’t really use because I don’t have time for it and I went to see some traffic statistics. I wasn’t surprised at all 
only 20 unique visitors/day, so I went to see what articles were waiting to be accepted. There were a few, some of them really good and I thought I should see how much traffic I get with stumbleupon for certain tags/keywords. For the first two or three articles which weren’t so good, I used five tags – weight loss, lose weight, diet, diets and loss weight. I stumbled and I was really surprised to see that 200 people visited my website from those tags.
So I went to search for a good article based on weight loss and I found something like this “The Diet Secrets Of 7 Women Celebrities”. From one stumble with the tags that I told you I received 1100 visitors in only 20 minutes. Now this is the power of social bookmarking and well written articles based on top 10, top 7 or just lists of interesting things.
Now the part with making money. My luck was that I had some banners from Commision Junction rotating in the header. I made 114$ with affiliates, for only five minutes of work. It’s not a huge amount of money, but money is money 
and everybody wants some.
As a tip you should research well all social bookmarking website, especially the tags from stumbleupon because not all are used at their full potential. The example that I gave you with weight loss is good because this tag isn’t used so much on stumble and the number of users that are searching for this is huge > it is a fact that in USA people suffer of obesity because 80% of the traffic I received was of course from the United States and 20% from Canada.

Yep, this is the day when we see how well google likes us. My pagerank got updated from pr 3 to pagerank 4 and I was expecting this because I tried to gain some backlinks in the past three months. Now from what I see some of the top bloggers recovered their pagerank for example problogger is at pr6 now but some remain the same ex johnchow, who is at pr4 because he is selling links and he is so evil :D.
Hope your page rank has improved because I really think this day, 12.01.2008 is the official google pagerank update day
A few months ago I hired someone to code me an article directory script and at the moment it is 80% done. The fact is that it’s not an ordinary article directory script, it has some futures that I specially requested and the most important one is grabbing articles from other free articles directories. So it’s kinda automated, when something new appears in the other directories, it announces me to go and press the special button. Here is a sneak preview from the admin section:

It’s true it is a beta version now because I want to add some things to it like rss feed for every category, registered users, a new design (I am working at this right now) etc and I am planning on selling it or give it for free in a few months, depending on some problems.

Two months ago I thought that I can increase my technorati rank and authority by creating a wordpress theme and giving it away for free. I was right and I still believe that it’s a great way to do so. In approximately one month and a few days I’ve increased my authority with 65 units and my rank from 200k to 80k because I released three wp themes, two specially designed for my blog and another one for Christmas.
My first wordpress theme is acosmin v1.0 which brought me a few backlinks and from what I see, the blogs that are using this theme have a huge possibility to gain high pagerank. This is good for me because my SERPs are growing and of course I can expect to increase my PR with one or two units.
The second wp theme is tmz winter, specially designed for a Romanian gossip blog and based on the Christmas topic. I had some nice feedback for this theme, some important blogs posted some reviews about it and some included it in a top 10 wp themes for holydays; ex performancing.com.
My recent theme is acosmin v2.0 which has real success. Almost 100 blogs are using this theme for now and it’s the main reason my technorati rank has increased.
Now I don’t want to say that my rankings are high but for a blog that is almost two months old my rank is good and I wanted to share this tip with you guys because it’s a simple way to increase your stats.
You can do the same too, the only thing is you should know a few things about wordpress, xhtml and css! Another method is pay a designer to create a theme for you and after give it for free to the blogosphere. They’ll thank you for sure!
