How to get more backlinks
As you all know the new pagerank update is coming soon, maybe in a month or so, because the last time when PR had an update was October 2007 and for this particular reason webmasters worldwide start to search for methods to gain as many quality backlinks as they can for their websites or blogs.
For those who don’t know backlinks are the incoming links or the links you receive from other websites/blogs and beside the fact that they are used for Google’s PageRank algorithm they are also good for your SERPs. So if you want to gain traffic from searchengines (especially google) you should consider working a lot to provide quality content and most important improve your IBLs.
Now for those who don’t really know how to receive some links from other websites, I made a little list of three methods that you can use and of course, you’ll see some great results:
1. My personal favorite is social bookmarking, because it has a lot of benefits, from backlinks, traffic, more rss readers to faster indexing from search engines! Using digg.com, stumbleupon.com or reddit.com will make the difference but the only problem is that you must have original and interesting content to get votes, because in this way you’ll drive traffic to your posts and some of the readers will link to your articles.
Here are two social bookmarking tools to make your job easy:
- SocialPoster.com maybe the first social bookmarking tool with over 59 websites to submit to.
- SocialMarker.com is a reaction to socialposter but much more improved; because it reduces reduce the time and effort of posting your content to at least 15 minutes. A little disadvantage is that it has only 31 social bookmarking sites to submit to. I suggest you use this one, they also have a wordpress plugin that blends well with in your theme!
2. Article directories are a good source of backlinks and traffic because when you submit an article you can add in its content a few links to your website/blog or posts. In this way you will benefit of quality links and pagerank but be aware that some article directories use the nofollow attribute in your links. Here is a list of article directories that use the follow attribute and are also known in this business:
- EzineArticles.com is one of the oldest and best article directory out there. If you get your article in here you can say that you are on the right way!
- ArticlesBase.com is great as well from what I know; I’ve used it a few times because it approves articles faster.
- You can get a few more articles directories by searching on Google. It is simple!
3. Link exchanges – I really don’t like this part because filling up a part of a website/blog with links looks bad and it gives your readers the impression that you are desperate for something, pagerank. You can use this method because it’s efficient and gives results sometimes; it all depends on the quality of the link and on what you can offer for it. Just don’t buy/sell links because you can get penalized!
For link exchanges you can get registered on digitalpoints forum and after go to the bussines > buy, sell or trade > link exchange section.
Also you can use widgets to exchange traffic, banners and links, some good examples are blogrush and entrecard!
I hope the next PageRank update ( January 2008 in my opinion) will make you happy and good luck at finding quality backlinks
