Well I have a new passion and I like it more and more: to design wordpress themes and so in one or two days a new version, v3, of acosmin will be available for download, for free of course. You can see bellow a sneak preview of the header. This theme will have three columns, one for 125×125px or 120×600px ads, the central column for posts and another one with a 300×250px ad spot. It also comes with some new css stuff, like tabs for recent comments, recent posts etc, and I hope you’ll like it.

One year ago, I had some ”problems” with a wordpress theme because I wanted a simple thingy and I didn’t know how to do it: make certain stuff (ads, categories, widgets) to appear or disappear depending on the type of page I wanted to add them. This trick is good for placing, rotating ads especially in the header, sidebar and footer, based on conditional tags that are built in wordpress.
The first conditional tag that describes your index or home page is: is_home(). I will write you an example shortly but now I let me explain why you should use this. Let’s say you have an ad spot of 728×90px in your header or footer and in that spot you want a certain banner to appear when you are browsing the index page and another banner when you are reading a post or viewing a category page. For this you can place the following php cod in that spot:

This is a good question if you are involved in blogging for over a year. Why? Because it’s time to review what really worked for you in 2007. It’s a good idea if you take one hour from your time and think about what you have realized this year, with your blog or in your niche and so you will be able to figure out if it is worthy to continue so or change something. Here are a few things you should consider thinking about if you want 2008 to be a better year for you!

As I promised earlier, I am back with a new wordpress theme which is free. This theme is a gift for you, my readers, for Christmas. You can see it live and working on this blog. Here are some of the technical options:
- three columns wordpress theme
- three spots in the header to add some details like about me or anything you want
- three spots in the footer to add widgets or plugins
- one 728×90px ad spot; one 300×250px ad spot which can be used also to place a video player like youtube; one 120×600px ad spot for banners or google adsense (better because with the proper colors it blends well)
- one sidebar specialy created for 125×125px ads
- I have included in the zip package the psd file for the logo so you can edit the colours and the text
- you can change the red color from the menu and headings by replacing from the style.css file the colour codes for h2 and #menu (border-bottom)
