This year, 2007, in my opinion it could be called “Widgets Year”. Why? Because widgets are all over the blogosphere and because a lot of big companies have launched their own “line” of wonderful thingies that make our live easier. The best example I can give for my statement is that in the last two weeks the, three types of widgets were released.
The first one is Blogrush, whose owner is John Resse, the famous internet guru who made one million dollars in 24 hours. Now I won’t talk about John, maybe in a future post, but his widget is fantastic because it is sending you free traffic. For every impression your widget makes, you get an impression on one of the websites from the category you are in. You can find more info here.

Web
As you all know DMOZ is one of the biggest web directory on the internet. Why? Because it’s free, everyone can submit his website and wait(and wait, and wait) for one of the dudes (so called editors) to accept them. Nothing wrong you say, but this f**king organization is so corrupt, that some of the editors will accept your website only if you pay them big cash. A nice example is when Shoemoney, was asked to pay 5000$ if he doesn’t want his link to be deleted. Of course, he didn’t pay and so his link disappeared from the famous directory. Another example is an ex editor, Joost de Valk, whose account was banned because he only wanted to know why Shoemoney’s link was deleted (you can find more info about him here). Also at this link you will see a lot of people who pay money and editors that accept to list their links in 1,2-10day.

Google
As you all know Google is planning to create a phone , GPhone, and for this project they have bought some important companies such as Android (2005), GrandCentral Communications and some groups of experts in mobile phones. As they are still working on this new generation mobile, the team from google adsense has lunched Adsense for mobile, which helps webmasters add a different code in their websites that will display ads when people are browsing from the phone. In my opinion this is all marketing. Why? Because it is clearly that they will make a phone that will display those ads better than on the iphone or other mobilephones and because they are the biggest brand in the world, everyone is gone buy it. Now, Google’s problem is to make webmasters use this type of making revenue because the mobile advertising market is small and they have to increase it until their gphone is lunched this year or next year. That is a smart move from them because they have it all planed out. First creat the advertising network and then make a phone that will surely be sold better than the iphone and of course that will bring revenue from those ads. Interesting, no?
Sean Cornwell, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Google UK, said that
AdSense for Mobile provides a valuable way to connect mobile users with the right ad at the right time as they seek information on the go, whilst offering publishers another way to increase their revenues.
Oh yeah, and your revenues as well. In conclusion I am waiting for the new gphone to click some ads.
It’s a simple question if you ask me. From what I know there are over 100 million bloggers right now on the internet and almost 40% of them are using wordpress. Now, I don’t have time to look over all the blogs, but from what I have seen almost 70% of the bloggers use two columns themes. Now this is a problem, because all the tow columns themes don’t give you the opportunity to expand and add new things to it. For example me, I have three columns, the main one for content, one for categories and some ads and the third which is a bit larger, for banners, links and other stuff that doesn’t have the width over 310px. This theme has a lot of advantages because of the width, but here is an example of a well known entrepreneur, Zac Johnson Read the rest of this entry »
